Ignite Cornwall

Ignite 2014, the £120,000 business start-up competition, delivered by Oxford Innovation as part of the ERDF funded Coaching for High Growth programme, continues to search for innovative entrepreneurs in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly who plan to start a new business or have been trading for less than a year. A series of sell out two day workshops has been running throughout the county over the summer and spaces for the final workshop at Trethorne Golf Club in Launceston on 19th & 20th August are filling rapidly. Eligible candidates invited to attend the Ignite Experience workshops have benefited from a wealth of practical business guidance and leading edge support from Oxford Innovation’s experienced coaches whilst, at the same time networking with like-minded people. The events are interactive, informative and provide the perfect insight into what Ignite competition judges will be looking for and how to develop a compelling three minute elevator pitch.

Praise for the Ignite Experience has been high, Lara Sword and Olivia Bossert saying after attending recent workshops:

‘I’ve been sitting on this idea for 6 years. In two days Ignite has given me the confidence and drive to go and do it!’ – Lara

‘The Ignite workshop has honestly been one of the most insightful and amazing learning experiences ever. I feel really excited and ready to take the next step in my business.’ – Olivia

Following the Ignite Experience workshops, entrants will use the knowledge gained to create and submit a three minute elevator pitch for their idea or start-up business.

A shortlist of finalists will be drawn up from the video pitches with a winner chosen in November by a judging panel made up of Cornish business leaders. The winner will receive a prize package worth £120,000 including £25,000 cash plus comprehensive support from well-established Cornish companies. This provides everything a fledgling business needs, from website design, digital marketing and PR services to legal and financial advice

New for 2014, an Innovative Product award is running in conjunction with the main prize fund to help launch a newly designed product. The winner in this category will receive support from local experts to help design and produce a prototype of their invention and to register its intellectual property (IP).

Ignite, one of the biggest business planning competitions in Europe, is delivered by Oxford Innovation and is generously sponsored and supported by a number of prominent Cornish companies.
