Carn Brea castle, near Camborne. The Castle was built as a hunting lodge by the Bassett family in the late 1700s.  The setting is on one of Cornwall's highest points, which is circled by an Iron Age Hill Fort.

Porthtowan's history is associated with mining and one of its most prominent buildings is a former engine house converted for residential use. Now its more famous for surfing and the legendary Blue Bar.
